Project Manager

Whakatane, New Zealand

Reference: 6876499

Lead from the front. Deliver work that actually matters.

If you're a Project Manager who enjoys getting stuck in, leading from the ground up, and seeing projects through from start to finish, this is a role where you can make a real impact.

At Pinnacles Civil, we're growing. That means more opportunity, more responsibility, and the chance to help shape how we deliver projects into the future.

This isn't a desk-only role. It's hands-on, people-focused, and built for someone who takes ownership, backs their team, and gets the job done properly.

About us
Pinnacles Civil is built on strong relationships, practical thinking, and doing things right the first time. Based in either Tauranga or Whakatane, we design, build, and maintain infrastructure that supports our communities from roads and bridges to earthworks and retaining structures.

We're a tight-knit team. No egos, no politics, just capable people who work hard, have a laugh, and back each other when it counts.

The role
You'll lead civil infrastructure projects from early planning through to delivery, taking full ownership across the lifecycle.

You'll be trusted to make decisions, manage people, and keep projects moving while maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors, and your team.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Managing projects end-to-end, from tendering through to completion
  • Planning, programming, and overseeing delivery on site
  • Building and maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships
  • Taking on key roles such as Project Manager, Contract Manager, and Engineer's Representative
  • Driving safety, quality, and environmental standards
  • Supporting business growth and contributing to continuous improvement
  • Mentoring and developing Project Managers, graduates, and cadets

What you'll bring
You're someone who brings energy, ownership, and a steady hand. You're just as comfortable working independently as you are leading a team, and you know how to get the best out of people.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or similar
  • Around 5+ years' experience in civil engineering/project management
  • Proven ability to deliver projects on time and to a high standard
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Solid understanding of HSE practices
  • Highly organised, with the ability to plan and prioritise effectively
  • A proactive, go-getter attitude with a good sense of humour

You'll also:

  • Enjoy mentoring others and helping lift capability across the team
  • Take pride in representing the business professionally
  • Bring a positive, solutions-focused mindset to everything you do

What's on offer

  • Competitive salary, aligned to your experience
  • Full personal use company vehicle
  • Free health insurance
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Five weeks' annual leave
  • Active social club and team events
  • Company clothing provided

Why Pinnacles Civil?
Because you want to be part of a business that's going somewhere, and wants you to grow with it.

We're building more than infrastructure. We're building a team, a culture, and a way of working that people want to be part of.

If you're ready to step into a role where you can lead, influence, and make a genuine difference, we'd like to hear from you.
